Day 1 Bamboo rebuild: Students individually buy a cheap plastic toy with a moving part and rip it apart. The moving part is then used to rebuild the toy based on the properties of bamboo combining it with the properties and capabilities of the mechanical part of the toy.
Day 2 Detailing and finishing of the toys. Some may need to reiterate as the first try may not work.
Day 3 Bring it to a marketable stage by adding components packaging etc. and selling it on a e shopping site.
Day 4 Introduction to electronics, circuits, sensors, LEDs, etc.
Day. 5 Students are taken to "e parisara" an organisation engaged in recycling e waste.
Day 6 Students are to bring a redundant equipment which has a circuit and a motorised moving part. They are to then visualise a final group outcome that could be made up of individual efforts.
Day 7 &8 Making of the final prototype and presenting the same

Toys n things - alternative livelihoods
What kind of synergy happens when an underpaid TV & household repair person from yelahanka old town joins hands with a bamboo artisan of bamboo bazaar. Similarly what if they are a auto mechanic with a terracotta craftsman, A construction worker with a chennapatna toy maker. The studio would start with field visits to places of work and creating a knowledge base. Second phase would be to generate connections between different fields and third phase is to come up with ideas that come up from these connections and finally concepts and prototypes.
Concepts of "Co-Labs" is not new. So some simple examples were given.
The main learnings here are:
Most craft involve high levels of precision and is as high tech as the popularly accepted high tech. So both these worlds can meet to produce magic.
The students were told to buy a simple toy with a simple mechanism. They were then told to break it apart and retain prime movement and some moving part. After this they were to choose a local craft that used natural materials and create a new product that used the craft as the material and the outer shell and the mechanical device to create movement bizarre results emerged.
